Resources

For those with aging dogs, it can be difficult to find the tools you need. Below is a growing list of resources I have come across over the last couple of years. If you have a resource you would like to share, please let me know and I will add it here.

NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES:

Veterinary Partner: This website has a searchable database of diseases and conditions, which provides “reliable, up-to-date animal health information from the veterinarians and experts of the Veterinary Information Network (VIN), the world’s first and largest online veterinary database and community.” I have been able to read a lot about congestive heart failure in dogs, as well as learn more about the medication Parka is taking on this website alone.

Canine Water Therapy: Water therapy is becoming widely accepted as a means for easing the pain of dogs with hip and back problems, as well as great physical therapy for dogs recuperating from surgery. The link provided will take you to the website for the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork, which is affiliated with the Association of Canine Water Therapy. From there, you can search by country and state for a therapist close to where you live. Please consult your veterinarian before scheduling an appointment to start your dog in water therapy, especially if your pup has heart disease.

LOCAL RESOURCES IN ARIZONA:

Arizona Pet Professionals: Arizona’s leading pet professionals. Visit their website for a list of professionals and their services.

Arizona Veterinary Specialists: An alliance located in Gilbert, Arizona, formed to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient care and exceptional client service with specialists in anesthesiology, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, radiation oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, and surgery. A 24-hour emergency clinic is also associated with this organization. Visit their website for more information.

Vetek Chic on Wheels: Kim Macrone is the Vetek Chic, a mobile veterinary technician who is certified to assist you with your In-Home Pet Medical Care. Visit her website for more information and check out the article on this blog about her services.
